BIRTHDAY HUGS & FISHES - CARD

Anyone that has followed my blog from the beginning will know that this mermaid stamp, from THE GREETING FARM, is my most used and abused stamp.  I don't think I can ever get tired of coloring this image.

One of my sweet daycare babes turned 4 over the weekend.  For her birthday we bought her a Little Mermaid toy.  So, it was a no brainer that I would once again reach for this stamp to go with her gift.

All die cuts were cut using the Paper Doll Dress Up Cricut cartridge.  The shell was cut at 4 3/4",  the orange coral at 4" and the green coral at 3 1/4".   All the images were colored using Copic markers.  I couldn't resist adding a little bling to Mermaid Anya's hair.  Do you like the little sea creature images?  They were a lucky find last weekend in the clearance section at Michael's.  They are called Ocean Friends from Recollections.  There are several more little creatures in the set.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!  I can't wait for the weekend as my LSS is having a huge Saturday sale and I have been squirreling moola away like a mad woman for a little shopping excursion.  :D  Hurry up weekend!!

GARLAND OF HEARTS

Some of you may remember about a week ago I posted THIS heart wreath that I was inspired to make from one I saw and fell in love with on Pinterest.  I mentioned that I would try my hand at a felt garland that I also found on Pinterest....well here it is!  Isn't it cute?!

My daughter, Caitlin, did the sewing portion of this project as I do not know my way around a sewing machine to save my life.  Which is awful because I would really love to start sewing on my cards and layouts.  Anyways, she did the sewing and I did the cutting and stringing.  It was so easy, only took a hour to do and cost under $2 to make.

HERE is a link to the picture tutorial.  Please note that the site is in Japanese but based on the pics provided you should be able to complete it no problem.  If I can do it, anyone can.  **PLEASE NOTE: do not use the stiffer felt.  I tried the stiffer felt at first thinking it would hold the heart shape better.  It does not, it stays flat and does not conform to the heart shape at all.  Just a little FYI.

I am entering this project into the following challenge:

WE WILL MISS YOU HAILEY!!

I believe I have one of the greatest jobs in the world running a daycare and getting to play with children all day long. However, the one major downer of my job is saying goodbye to those that have outgrown me and are heading off to school. One of my little ones is starting kindergarten on Monday, and she will greatly be missed!!

There are so many things I will miss about you, Hailey, but here are my "TOP FIVE":

1) your smile.

2) that you are always such a big helper.

3) your sweetness.

4) how you always compliment me on my outfit or hair, even on my frumpy days!

5) your infinite knowledge of every commercial jingle out there in TV land and how you get those jingles stuck in my head for days after you have stopped singing them. "It's not a sandwich, it's a Tortada." LOL!

Here is a little something I put together to celebrate Hailey's milestone. The image on the card and on the front of the backpack are Whimsie Doodles digi stamps. Currently over at Whimsie Doodles, one of their Doodlelicious Divas, Sheri, is hosting one of their Whimsie Wednesday Challenges with a BACK TO SCHOOL theme. You have until midnight of Tuesday, August 24th to upload your creations to participate in the challenge. You can check out all of the details here.

The template for the pencil box can be found in my previous post and here is a link for the backpack tutorial from SCS. My older daughter made the most adorable glass bead bracelet for Miss Hailey to go into the backpack. She will be very excited to get it as she is always complimenting Brittany on her bracelets.

Make sure to check out the challenge and to check out Sheri's back to school project. It is adorable!!!

JUST FOR YOU CUPCAKE - CARD

I just recently made my very first easel card and now I am hooked. They are so super easy to make. So when I saw that one of my favorite blogs, Club Anya & Friends, was hosting a Easel Card Challenge I knew I just had to make another one to take part in their challenge. There is still time to participate, you have until 11:59 pm CST tonight to enter your card. Click here for the challenge details.

The Cupcake Anya digi stamp is from TGF which I colored in using my Copics. I am slowly getting the hang of them....practice, practice, practice. The patterned paper is called Cuppy Cakes (and is perfect for this image) from Doodlebug Design Inc. The cupcake was cut out using the Sweet Treats Cricut cartridge and was cut at 5 1/2" then ran through the cuttlebug and stickled.

Don't forget to check out the challenge details and good luck to those that enter!

AMY'S FRIDAY SKETCH CHALLENGE: HIP HIP HOORAY - CARD

I have never done a sketch challenge before but have always wanted to try one. Amy's blog is one that I stalk....umm, I mean follow...on a regular basis. When she came out with this sketch last week I thought, what the heck, I will try it. Plus I had a new Anya stamp to play with. So here is Amy's sketch and all of the info about it: AMYRS72 ......
......and here is my take on it.

All of the paper is from my scrap stash. The stamp is the new "Hippie Anya" from the Greeting Farm. She is a limited edition, so go grab her now. Isn't she just GROOVY BABY?! I used my new circle nestabilities and some of my surplus of dotlets. The sentiment stamp is a Studio G $1 stamp from Michael's and I used Glossy Accents on the headband flower. If you have a chance, check out Amy's blog, her cards are fabulous!!
