A COLORFUL BIRTHDAY - CARD

Yep, I'm back again.  There seems to be a pattern to my blogging activity.  I start off really great at the beginning of the new year, and then totally die off between May and June.  Then nothing again until January.  This year I'm going to challenge myself to be active until at least July.  LOL  We will see how that goes.  ;)

Super quick and easy birthday card for you today.  The idea for this card was CASE'd from Michelle of PRETTY PERIWINKLES blog.  She has a lot of really adorable cards on her blog.

It's great to have my crafting mojo up and running again.  I'm looking forward to checking out every one's blogs to see what you all have been creating!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT - CARD

This is another CASE creation.  I discovered THIS card on Pinterest and fell in love with it right away.  It's so simple and festive.  I love the bright colors that Laura Bassen used on her card.  However, considering I had to make a birthday card for my BIL, I decided to stick with more of a monotone look.

The circle punches and my BIL's name were cut out of paint sample cards that I had on hand.  Takes the guess work out of whether or not the blues I picked out looking good together.  I used the Diesel font from Quickutz for the name and a $1 Studio G stamp for the sentiment.

This card would be cute in reds or pinks with little hearts instead of dots for that special someone, I'm thinking.  Make sure to check out Laura's BLOG, she has some really beautiful creations.

BIRTHDAY WISHES - CARD

My sweet little nephew turned 3 recently.  It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating his first birthday.  I swear before you know it he will be visiting his Auntie Bebba at her nursing home.  ;)

During Christmas Brittany gave Ashton a small toy plane.  It was a BIG hit with him.  So it was easy to come up with a theme for his card.  I cut the airplane from the "B is for Boy" Cricut cartridge at 3 inches.  The #3 was cut using the Calvin font from Quickutz and the clouds were cut from a Sizzix die.

I always feel a little lost when making cards without a stamped image, however this one came together quickly and I am happy with the finished product.

Happy Birthday Ashton!!

8th BIRTHDAY - CARD

PINTEREST, PINTEREST, PINTEREST!  I just can not tell you all how addicted I am to Pinterest!!  I spend way more time on Pinterest than I do blogging.  My poor neglected blog.  :D

I CASE'd this card from one I found on Pinterest.  The original was created by Pamela .  Check out her blog here.  I love everything about this card.  It's simple, easy, can be adapted for any age and can be any color you want.  You can even make it masculine and not add the bling.  Plus it gave me a reason to whip out my Quick Kutz which have not been used in a while.

Happy Birthday, sweet Josie!

CRAFT US CRAZY CHALLENGE #4

CHALLENGE #4 - CUPCAKE/CELEBRATION THEME

You do know what today is right? It's Thursday, which means challenge day over at CRAFT US CRAZY. Our last challenge had over 180+ entries. What can I say? You guys rock!!! This week the challenge theme is CUPCAKES/CELEBRATION. You can check out all of the challenge and sponsor prize details here. Who are our sponsors for this challenge? For the entire month of March our sponsor is STITCHY BEAR STAMPS and our sponsor for this week's challenge is LIMITED RUNS DIGI'S.

Both my daughter and I have a birthday coming up within the next month and a half, so I thought I would make a banner as my challenge project that we could also use during our birthday celebrations. The banner was super easy to make and using one 12x12 sheet of paper yielded 6 banner flags. The hardest part was taking the pictures and trying to get a decent photo of the whole thing.

A close up pic. The banner says "CELEBRATE" with cupcakes on both ends.

I hope you will join us over at CRAFT US CRAZY this week for what should be a super fun challenge!! Always remember that we love to see all types of crafts during our challenges and it is not necessary to use product from our sponsors to participate, but if you do...awesome!!

CRAFT US CRAZY CHALLENGE # 3

CHALLENGE #3 - NATURE

It's challenge time again over at CRAFT US CRAZY. This weeks challenge is all about....NATURE! What inspires you about nature? Is it the flowers, trees, birds, or bugs? Play along with us this week to show us what inspires you in nature. Our sponsor for this week's challenge is COCODINGO. They have some of the most gorgeous digi images. We also have the privilege of having STITCHY BEAR STAMPS as a sponsor for the entire month of March.

Here is my card inspired by NATURE. Just how gorgeous is this image from COCODINGO? I have to admit that this type of image is not the norm for me. I tend to make more of the cutesier cards and not to many serious or pretty cards. However, I really wanted to push myself for this challenge and do something out of the box for me. I have to say I really enjoyed coloring this image and it's one of my favorites now.

I printed the image on kraft paper and used my Prisma pencils to color it in. I made what I hope looks close to a cherry blossom out of a Quick Kutz die, that I cut out and layered, sewing seed beads into the center. I also hand sewed the seed beads along the bottom of the card for something different and not too cute. ;)

Here is a close up pic of the image colored in. So let's see all of those NATURE inspired projects!! Come join us over at CRAFT US CRAZY and play along with our NATURE themed challenge. Remember it is not necessary to submit a project using a product from one of our sponsors, but if you do awesome!!

YOU'RE A HOTTIE!! - CARD

As my hubby visits my blog from time to time I had to wait until after Valentine's Day to post this one. This is the first time that I have made a side step card and I have to say that I am completely hooked!! It was really easy to make and fun to decorate.

I have had this Hallo Shedevil digi image from The Greeting Farm for ever and could not wait to use her for this. All of the papers are from my scrap stash. The ribbon is from American Crafts, the little pink hearts were cut out using a Quick Kutz die, and I used my new Martha Stewart border bunch.
Here's a side view of the fold. Like I said, very easy.

SANTA BABY - LO

Is this not the cutest Santa you have ever seen? These photos are quite old of my nephew Landon as he is 4 years old now, but I could not help but to share this LO I did of him dressed up in his Santa outfit.

The title and Ho Ho Ho was cut using the Cricut Base Camp cartridge (a oldie but goodie), the presents are Quick Kutz dies and the Santa is a paper piece pattern from Windows of Time.

Anybody else just not quite ready to admit that Christmas is over? Sigh.... :)

HPY B DAY - CARD

How cute is this shaped card? I found the idea and pattern for this card in a magazine. To be more specific v. 8 of Paper Crafts Card Creations, the designer of the pattern is Kim Hughes. Her card looks way better but I am still happy with this one. I just wish my license plate letters fit a little better I really had to crowd them in as you can see. :) For those wanting to give this card a try here is the link.

SUMMER'S DONE, SCHOOL'S FUN SET

WARNING: this post is picture heavy. I have also included the link for two tutorials/templates for some of the items that I made for this set.

Our niece Alyssa is getting ready to enter the first grade next week so I whipped up this back to school set for her that has a little touch of the summer that is nearly over. Altered composition notebook using "Hula Anya" from The Greeting Farm and paper from Flair Designs. The palm tree is a laser die cut from Deluxe Cuts.

Pencil box covered with the same paper mention above, decorated with ribbon and Hawaiian Paradise Stand-Out stickers from Provo Craft. The pencil box template is from the PCP 3D challenge "slide top pencil box" and can be found here.

Altered Altoids tin, which I spray painted, covered with the same paper and stickers as above. Inside the tin is a little surprise.

The tin holds fridge magnets that I made for Alyssa's mommy to hold all of her papers and wonderful art work that I know she will be bringing home. In keeping with the summer theme I used Hula Anya and Surfer Ian for the magnets. They are such a cute couple.

Here is a pic with the magnets out of the tin and separated. Kim over at the Club Anya & Friends blog, posted a tutorial on how to make these. Check out the link here. Her magnets are just adorable and she gives great directions on how to make them. They are super easy!! I have plans to make several sets for Christmas as stocking stuffers.

Last and finally is a altered Frap bottle that I stuffed full of little school supplies for Alyssa. The whole set was easy to make and I was able to make everything with one piece of card stock and one piece of patterned paper.

SWIMSUIT SEASON - LO

Oh my goodness how I love these photos!!! These photos were taken of our niece Alyssa when she was little. We had bought her some swimsuits for her first trip to Hawaii with her Mom and Dad and put them on her for a little fashion show. I just LOVE babies in swimsuits!! They always look so stinking cute and our niece is just the cutest!!

The title was cut using the Quik Kutz "Venus" font set and the swimsuits are paper pieced. I tried to make the pink bikini resemble the bikini we bought Alyssa. She is definitely a bathing suit cutie!
As a follow up to my previous post; our anniversary dinner was delicious. The girls did a great job and our steaks were cooked to perfection thanks to the assistance of a Paula Dean recipe. Can't go wrong with Paula Dean!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY - CARD

This is a quick little birthday card that I made for my SIL. I found the idea in the June issue of Paper Crafts 101 magazine. Their card actually used letter stamps and the masking technique. As I don't own any letter stamps I used my Quick Kutz Venus Dies for the lettering. I just rolled them through the cuttlebug...so easy. I can't believe I considered getting rid of my Quick Kutz dies once I got my Cricut. I love my Cricut but when you just need one letter, or maybe a few letters cut from several different colors, it is so easy to roll them through the cuttlebug. The paper is from the DCWV Glitter Stack and the stamps are Studio G $1 finds from Michael's. I also used the threading water punch, which is my new favorite punch BTW.
